Thursday, May 30, 2013

On May 22nd, the Y and parents of children in our afterschool Kids Connection and Sunday Funday programs joined Washington Heights Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez at City Hall to push City Council for increased support of the Council Autism Initiative. "As the Y begins to expand its programming available to children and families with special needs, we realize the great importance of continuing to support the Council Autism Initiative" says Deena Spindler, Director of Special Needs Programs at the Y. "This will assist us in securing much needed funding, to enable us to further grow and develop quality recreation and socialization programs, in order to better serve the families in our community and beyond, who are struggling to care for those with autism spectrum disorders."
