Senior Adults
Off-Site Senior Programs
The Y hosts off-site programs and monthly discussion
groups in co-ops and apartment buildings that have a
significant number of senior residents; these currently
include Castle Village, 45 Fairview and 99 Hillside and in
the fall of 2007, we’re establishing a new monthly social
support group at Hudson View Gardens. At these
meetings, professional staff lead discussions about a
variety of topics, from social services and entitlements to
the arts, and they tailor programs to reflect residents’
needs and interests. If tenants are homebound,
arrangements can be made to have them escorted to the
meetings where refreshments are served.
To learn how
you can begin an off-site program in your building or for
more information, please call Deborah Katznelson at

Hebrew Tabernacle Program
We provide a variety of services to support and assist
elderly members of the Hebrew Tabernacle Congregation
so they can live in their community with dignity and
safety. Following an assessment, a care plan is developed
which may include homecare, Meals-On-Wheels,
counseling entitlement assistance and financial
management.
Friendly visiting and telephone reassurance may also
be scheduled. Clients may be seen at the synagogue
and at the Y. The Program Coordinator works closely
with the Synagogue Chesed Committee to organize
visits to homebound or hospitalized Hebrew Tabernacle
congregants.
A weekly discussion group is scheduled at the Synagogue.
Participants may come on a regular basis, or just stop by
occasionally to share in the lively discussions about life’s
changing needs.
